Nature/Seasons
***
Winter
This is the season
When mornings are dark,
And birds don’t sing
In the forest and park.
This is the season
When children ski,
And Father Frost
Brings the New Year tree.
***
Down! Down!
Down, down!
Yellow and brown The leaves are falling Over the town. September is a time
Of beginning for all, Beginning of school Beginning of fall. The sunflower children
Nod to the sun. Summer is over, Fall has begun! The leaves are falling
One by one. Summer's over School's begun. Off to school
We go together In September's Sunny weather. ***
Autumn
This is the season
When fruit is sweet;
This is the season
When school friends meet,
When noisy and gay,
And brown in the sun,
With their books and bags
To school they run.
Down, down, down
Red, yellow, brown
Autumn leaves fall down.

January
January
Now is here -- A fine new start For a whole new year. The snow comes down
In the dark of night. When we awake The world is white. In January
When there's snow, We get our sleds And away we go. ***
The Snowman
I made a great tall snowman
With two huge coal black eyes And just to reach around his neck Took two of Daddy's ties. I put a hat of mother's Upon his rounded head And then I ran and left him And hurried off to bed. When I awoke next morning Imagine my surprise My snowman had run away And left his hat, ties, and eyes! ***
Spring
This is the season
When snowdrops bloom,
When nobody likes
To be in his room.
This is the season
When birds make their nests;
This is the season
We all like best.
***
Spring
Spring makes the world a happy place
You see a smile on every face. Flowers come out and birds arrive, Oh, isn't it grand to be alive? ***
Summer
This is the season
When nights are short;
When children are full
Of fun and sport;
Playing, swimming
All the day
With a happy song
On a sunny day.

Our Earth
The Earth is ours to enjoy
For every little girl and boy. But we must always be aware. That all its beauty we must share With all the children yet to come, Who want to laugh and play and run Around the trees and in the fields. So we must keep our planet free
From messy trash and debris With air that's clean and fresh and clear For all to breathe from year to year. We must never ever abuse Our sweet Earth that's ours to use. SPECIAL DAYS

New Year
A year to be glad in,
And not to be sad in, To gain in, to give in, A happy new year. A new year for trying, And never for sighing, A new year to live in, Oh, hold it most dear. ***
Thanksgiving
The year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go. The harvest is all gathered in And chilly north winds blow. Orchards have shared their treasures, The fields, their yellow grain. So open wide the doorway- Thanksgiving comes again! ***
Witch, Witch Witch witch, where do you fly?
Under the clouds and over the sky. Witch, witch, what do you eat?
Little black apples from Hurricane Street. Witch, witch, what do you drink?
Vinegar and good red ink. Witch, witch, where do you sleep?
Up in the clouds where the pillows are cheap. ***
Valentine's Day
If I could be the postman
For just one single time, I'd choose to carry Valentines So lovely and so fine. I would not mind the heavy load, Or mind my tired feet. If I could scatter happiness All up and down the street. ***
It's Valentine's Day (by Jack Prelutsky)
It's Valentine's Day. And in the street There's freezing rain, and slush, and sleet. The wind is fierce. The skies are gray. I don't think I'll go out today. But here inside the weather's warm. There is no trace of wind or storm. And you just made the morning shine. You said you'd be my Valentine. ***
Five Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins
Sitting on a gate. The first one said, "Oh, my it's getting late!" The second one said, "There are witches in the air!" The third one said, "Well, I don't care!" The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run!" The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!" Ooooo went the wind And out went the lights And the five little pumpkins Rolled out of sight. Other

A mouse everywhere
There’s a mouse at the window
And a mouse at the door
There’s a mouse on the carpet
And a mouse on the floor.
Where is the mouse now?
At the window
At the door
On the carpet
And on the floor.
There’s a mouse in the book
And a mouse under the chair
There’s a mouse running up the wall
On the table and everywhere.
Where is the mouse now?
In the book
Under the chair
Up the wall
And everywhere!

Miss Lucy had a baby.
His name was Tiny Tim.
She put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim.
He drank up all the water.
He ate up all the soap.
He tried to eat the bathtub,
But wouldn’t fit in his throat.
Miss Lucy called the doctor.
Miss Lucy called the nurse.
Miss Lucy called the lady
With the alligator purse.
"Mumps,” said the doctor.
"Measles,” said the nurse.
"Nothing,” said the lady
With the alligator purse.
Miss Lucy thanked the doctor.
Miss Lucy thanked the nurse.
Miss Lucy hugged the lady
With alligator purse.

Punctuality (by Lewis Carroll)
Man Naturally loves delay,
And to procrastinate; Business put off from day to day Is always done too late. Let ever hour be in its place
Firm fixed, nor loosely shift, And well enjoy the vacant space, As though a birthday gift. And when the hour arrives, be there,
Where'er that "there" may be; Uncleanly hands or ruffled hair Let no one ever see. If dinner at "half-past" be placed,
At "half-past" then be dressed. If at a "quarter-past" make haste To be down with the rest Better to be before you time,
Than e're to be behind; To open the door while strikes the chime, That shows a punctual mind. Moral:
Let punctuality and care
Seize every flitting hour, So shalt thou cull a floweret fair, E'en from a fading flower ***
My Dog Chewed Up My Homework (by Bruce Lansky)
I'm glad to say my homework's done.
I finished it last night. I've got it right here in this box. It's not a pretty sight. My dog chewed up my homework.
He slobbered on it, too. So now my homework's ripped to shreds and full of slimy goo. It isn't much to look at,
but I brought it anyway. I'm going to dump it on your desk if I don't get an A. ***
Too Busy (by Bruce Lansky)
I've folded all my laundry
and put it in the drawer. I've changed my linen, made my bed, and swept my bedroom floor. I've emptied out the garbage
and fixed tomorrow's lunch. I've baked some cookies for dessert and given Dad a munch. I've searched the house for pencils
and sharpened every one. There are so many things to do when homework must be done. ***
I promise...
I promise to be very, very good.
I promise to do the things I should. I promise to make my bed each day. I promise to put my things away. I promise not to throw my socks on the floor. I promise to put my socks in the drawer. I promise to do my homework right. I promise not to stay up late at night. I promise to listen to my mom and dad. I promise not to do anything bad. | |
